Attendance

Attendance

In accordance with California law, school-age children are subject to mandatory, compulsory education.  In addition, regular and on-time attendance is critical to ensuring students' social, emotional and academic growth.  However, there may be times when a child must miss school due to illness or other personal necessity.  If your child is absent from school you will need to contact the Magnolia Attendance Hotline to report your child's absence.

IMPORTANT UPDATE TO CUSD ATTENDANCE POLICY

State law now requires schools to officially record every time a student is absent during instructional time.  This means that if you sign your child out during the school day for a reason that is not “excused”, the absence will be recorded as “unexcused”.  Examples of excused reasons for leaving during the school day are illness or medical/dental appointments.  Examples of unexcused reasons for leaving during the school day are vacations, family days, personal, or if no reason is given.  If a student accrues a total of 3 unexcused absences, a truancy letter will be sent to the parents. Please see the Student Handbook at the link below for more information.
