MagTV wins NPR Podcast Contest and More
MagTV celebrates another year of awards and accolades. Current MagTV 5th graders were just named a NPR Student Student Podcast winner and were featured live on NPR’s All Things Considered. Under the direction of Andrew Luria, dad of a 5th grade Magnolia student at Fox 5 San Diego news anchor, a crew of 4th and 5th grade students work in front and behind the camera to create a monthly school news show.
Here are some additional awards that the 2023-2024 MagTV crew of 4th and 5th graders received:
- Their electric vehicle video was selected for the Maryland Children's Environmental Film Festival. There was a screening on August 3rd in Ellicott City, MD.
- They were selected as a finalist in the Children's Cinema Awards in the Netherlands.
- They appeared in Kids First Film Festival in New Mexico in August.
- Their electric vehicle video won the elementary school division of the One Earth Film Festival for a second straight year. That awards show is in September in Chicago.
- They were also selected for the San Diego International Kids Film Festival for a second-straight year!
- Featured in the Universal Kids Film Festival, which is another international contest in Turkey
- Nominated for the Everything Holiday Film Festival, for Best Student Film and Best Ensemble which will be held later this month in Florida.
